The Jerry Goldsmith Awards are Coming!

Ya falta muy poco para que se convoquen, de manera oficial, los VII Premios Jerry Goldsmith. Os adelantamos, para los que estéis interesados en participar, algunos de los datos que son de interés:

Los premios se conceden en las siguientes categorías: Larga Duración, Corto de Acción Real, Corto de Animación, Documental, Publicidad, Promoción, Creación libre, Canción y el premio Jerry Goldsmith al mejor Compositor.

Este año se admitirá que el material sea expuesto o enviado online por Internet (los videos expuestos, las músicas enviadas), a través de un servidor online de archivos o método similar. Os recomendamos hacerlo a través de Rapidshare, Yousendit, o servicios similares. Se podrá enviar también mediante correo postal, enviando un paquete a cada uno de los responsables, con todo el material solicitado.

El plazo para el registro y el envio de Material terminará a las 23.59h del dia 10 de Junio de 2012. Las nominaciones serán anunciadas el 15 de Junio de 2012.

Ve preparando pues el material y espera a la convocatoria oficial, de la que os informaremos aquí mismo.

We are close to the official opening of the VII Jerry Goldsmith Awards. We anticipate, for those who are interested in participating, some of the information that is of interest:

The awards are given in the following categories: Full-Legth, Live Action Short, Animated Short, Documentary, Advertising, Promotion, Free Creation, Song and the Jerry Goldsmith Award for Best Composer.

This year it will be admitted that the material may be exposed or sent online via the Internet (videos exposed, music sent), through an online file server or similar method. We recommend you through Rapidshare, Yousendit, or similar services. It also may be sent by ordinary mail by sending a packet to each one of the people responsible, with all required material.

The deadline for registration and sending of the material will end on June 10, at 11:59 p.m. Nominations will be announced on June 15, 2012.

Concierto Disney en Mallorca/Disney Concert in Mallorca

Mañana, sábado 26 de mayo a las 21,00 en la plaza Alexandre Ballester de Sa Pobla (Mallorca) tendrá lugar un concierto dedicado a la música de películas de la factoría Disney, organizado por la Asociación Balear de Amigos de la Música de Cine, a cargo de la Banda de Música de Sa Pobla y la Banda de Música de Santa Margalida, con Karen Alonso y los cantantes Maria Rosselló Pérez, Elena María de la Cruz y Juan Carlos González Andreu. / Tomorrow, Saturday 26 of May at 21,00 hours in Alexandre Ballester Square of Sa Pobla (Mallorca) will take place a concert devoted to the music of films from Disney, organized by the Asociación Balear de Amigos de la Música de Cine, performed by Banda de Música de Sa Pobla and Banda de Música de Santa Margalida, con Karen Alonso and singers Maria Rosselló Pérez, Elena María de la Cruz and Juan Carlos González Andreu.

De manera inminente van a ser anunciados los VII Premios Jerry Goldsmith, que este año tendrán sus plazos de presentación muy ajustados (apenas dos semanas). Los interesados podrán elegir entre enviar su material por correo ordinario o ponerlo a disposición del jurado a través de internet. Cuando sea oficial la convocatoria, lo anunciaremos también aquí. / Imminently it will be announced the VII Jerry Goldsmith Awards, which this year will have very tight deadlines (just two weeks). Segunda versión del relato de la estrella en decadencia enamorado de la estrella en ascenso, tras A Star is Born (37), el filme de George Cukor A Star Is Born (54) fue un musical protagonizado por Judy Garland y James Mason y que contó con espléndidos números. La música corrió a cargo de Ray Heindorf, pero las canciones fueron creadas por Harold Arlen e Ira Gershwin (letras), y de entre todas ellas se destacó The Man that Got Away que, ambientada en un local nocturno de jazz, se trató de una cálida y algo amarga canción que Judy Garland interpretó con convicción y que incluiría ya para siempre en su repertorio. Como curiosidad, la canción fue nominada al Oscar, pero dado que la actriz se encontraba en un avanzado estado de gestación, se consideró poco adecuado que una mujer embarazada subiera al escenario a cantar un tema cuya letra era un lamento por el hombre que se fue…

Tombatossals, la leyenda de los gigantes es un filme de animación dirigido por Manuel J. Garcia que gira en torno a la leyenda de la fundación de la ciudad de Castellón. La música la firma, en su primer trabajo en el cine, Diego Montesinos, un autor a tener en cuenta a tenor de lo que ha escrito para esta película.

Eso sí, para cualquier compositor, las carencias presupuestarias son un serio inconveniente para poder ejecutar su creación, sustancialmente por la pobre sonoridad que resulta de tener que trabajar con máquinas y no con orquesta real. Y cualquier película, y mucho más si es un filme de animación, gana mucho si el sonido musical es bueno y si lo que se escucha son instrumentos reales, porque engrandece y porque otorga una gran prestancia. Y esto es el gran problema que ha debido padecer Diego Montesinos en su debut en el cine, pues su extenso y muy notable esfuerzo acaba siendo más intuido que apreciado. El compositor aprovecha no pocas referencias, pero más de clásicos tipo Max Steiner o Alfred Newman que no de compositores contemporáneos, y dispone en una sólida estructura temaria todos los elementos característicos en un filme de estas características: temas épicos, música de acción, melodías dramáticas y también románticas, con un permanente sentido de la gran aventura. De haber podido ser grabado con orquesta real, a buen seguro cosecharía un importante reconocimiento. Y eso marca una importante diferencia.
